Telangana, Unified state

The health condition of Kotla Sujathamma, whose fast entered the fifth day in support of unified Andhra Pradesh, deteriorated on Tuesday. The doctors who examined her asked the attendants at the hunger strike camp to be alert in view of her precarious condition.

Mrs. Sujathamma who looked cheerful till yesterday complained of giddiness and headache. Most of the time, she was found lying. A large number of women visted the dharna camp to express their solidarity.

Meanwhile, the Congress leaders took out a rally from Rajiv Gandhi statue at C. Camp to Potti Sriramulu statue at Children’s park. The protesters picketed all Central Government Offices including banks and forced them to close.

MLAs — Murali, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Mayor S. Raghurami Reddy and other leaders from the region — S.V. Subba Reddy, S.V. Mohan Reddy, Bhuma Nagireddy, Sobha Nagireddy, T.G. Bharat, Challa Ramakrishna Reddy, M. Sudhakar Babu, Buchibabu and others took part in the rally.

Addressing the meeting, the leaders said Rayalaseema would be the worst victim if the State is bifurcated as it would have no assured water resources. The Central government had unmindfully accepted the demand for separate Telangana State without consulting the representatives from other regions.

They called upon public and political parties not to give scope for politics but work for the interests of the people of Rayalaseema.

Meanwhile, the hunger strike by TDP leader B.T. Naidu entered second day on Tuesday.
